Senior Technical Operations Engineer - Leeds


Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 (+ benefits)


Excellent opportunity for a Senior Technical Operations Engineer to join a leading supplier of IT Solutions based in Leeds. We require a Senior Engineer to lead the proactive monitoring, maintenance, patching, administration and backup of the Technology Centre’s Private and Public Cloud solutions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Active technical ownership of Private and Public Cloud ongoing operations ensuring a performant and stable platform for our internal and external customers.
  • Driving the Technical Operations Team to improve Cloud operations performance
  • Working with the Operations Manager design monitoring, backup, patching, capacity/access mgmt, and other policies for ongoing management of systems.
  • Align current standards and tools across the Private and Public Cloud Operations and to help maintain and improve service portfolio.
  • Act as an escalation point for Public Cloud issues and mentor Operations engineers in good working practices.
  • Work closely with the Solutions/Projects/Security teams to ensure secure, efficient and workable designs and implementations.
  • Identify new and improve current working processes for Private and Public Cloud operations.
  • Proactive infrastructure monitoring with SCOM and backup supervision and monitoring across all customer estates.
  • Provide support to the Technical Implementation team, in line with their workloads, on a planned as-needed basis
  • Site visits to data centres and customer premises as necessary
  • Provision of out of hours (weekend and evening) support via home VPN on a rota basis.

  • Windows Server based systems including DNS, DHCP, IIS, NPS, RDS, DFS, Hyper-V
  • Active Directory with multiple forests and domains including cloud connectivity with ADFS and Azure AD Connect
  • Microsoft Application Servers (i.e. Exchange,  Lync, SharePoint  SQL Server)
  • Microsoft Azure Administration using ARM and PowerShell
  • Windows/Linux Server and Services support on Microsoft Azure in a Hybrid Cloud IaaS and PaaS Environment
  • VMware and similar virtualisation technologies
  • XEN Desktop / Citrix VDI Technologies
  • Public and Private Cloud High Availability – Local and Geographical
  • Monitoring and deployment tools
  • Enterprise grade server and storage hardware
  • Virtualization principles & technologies
  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to “think outside the box” under pressure
  • Current driving license, with a road legal vehicle and prepared to travel throughout the UK
  • Able to clear Security Clearance (SC or above)
  • Able to work as a leader within a technical operations team
